Ah the dilemma… to buy or to remodel? For this client the answer became obvious. They loved their location and their property, but the house no longer accommodated their lifestyle. The solution was to re-imagine the existing house to have the open plan with outdoor entertaining areas. Also at the top of the list was an owner’s suite with his and hers closets, a connected laundry room, and an adjacent master sitting room for those times when you need time away from your guests.
We incorporated timber frame details into the design to compliment the craftsman architectural style of the remodeled exterior. A generous front porch welcomes guests and the large gabled porch attached to the great room doubles the entertaining space and merges the indoor and outdoor spaces.
Also, the use of rustic rough sawn wood, stone and metal create a textural mix that gives this home a modern rustic feel.
